2015: Why I want to be Delta governor – Uduehi

By Paul Osuyi
A female governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Uduehi has given reasons for joining the governorship race, saying that her intention was to change lives for the better in the state.
Uduehi who spoke in Asaba promised to consolidate on the peace and security of the present administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan if elected next year.
Besides, the governorship hopeful said her administration as governor of the oil-rich state would witness tremendous growth in education, health, infrastructure, human capital development, rural development, urban renewal, civil service amongst other sectors.
“My interest right now is to change lives of Deltans. My vision is to govern for the common good of all. You can trust me, my word is my bond. I don’t want to say it, I want to act it. I am anxious to serve, I have been tested and trusted,” she stated.
Uduehi who joined politics in the early 1990s after her retirement, said she would bring her civil service experience and the over two decades in the political turf into bear in the administration of the state.
The chairman of the board of the National Commission for Mass Literacy and Non-Formal Education, told journalists that she has been an active member of the PDP where she had served in various capacities for the stability in the party
Mrs. Uduehi noted that she was not deterred by the plethora of male aspirants in the race, noting that it was only God that knew who would be succeeding Dr. Uduaghan in 2015.
Mrs. Uduehi who is retired Permanent Secretary in the old Bendel State is the second female governorship aspirant from Delta north (Anioma nation) where the governorship candidate of the PDP is favoured to come from based on an understanding on power shift.
